We spent an interesting Saturday – hunting for a mouse in the basement. Teeth or not, Ginger has discovered his old hunting skills and is very good at it. Not a week passes without him coming home carrying a mouse. Good for the mice: Thanks to the missing teeth, they are still alive and unharmed and if they play it well escape is definitely an option. So far I have already been able to grab one totally paralyzed mouse that just sat under our Jeep and to carry it into the shrubbery next door. On another occasion, Jaspar was unfortunately present when a proud Ginger set his catch free. Naturally, Jaspar was delighted and chased the mouse around. But he made a mistake. He drove the rodent towards the house and it disappeared into one of the light shafts. Bad for us, that particular light shaft contained the filling port for the oil tank and the mouse had run along the pipe and vanished into the cellar. So we knew it was there somewhere. On Saturday – the MI5 was outside in the garden – the best husband of all finally spotted the mouse. We moved a lot of furniture and cat paraphernalia until I finally succeeded in cornering it and catching it with the help of a cardboard box that used to contain frozen peas in – quite a coincidence – another light shaft. As I was busy hunting, I was not able to take pictures but I can show you the beginning of the story.

So don’t be afraid to look at the following photos. Not only the story they are telling has had a happy ending.

On this note, have a happy week!

PS: And of course I am a Hitchcock fan 😉
